Lone Writer Chibits – An Intro

Mar 16, 2026 | Art, Writing

I’m hereby launching what I hope to be a series of whort webtoons (hence the chibits) inspired by my writing adventures–these were initially only meant to be shared via my newsletter, but they’re a little image-intensive, so I’ll be posting them here instead. I hope you enjoy these mini-tales!

LONE WRITER Chibits Title

Abby, the main character, sits on a fluffy cloud on which are the words "Hopes & Dreams". She says "Hi". There's an explanation square that reads: "I'm Abby, and I'll be sharing snippets of my adventures on the long road to becoming a full-time writer/storyteller!"

A smiling Abby, holding in one hand the word "chibi" and in the other the word "bits" explains: "Chibi comes from the Japanese word for small/short, and refers to the miniature, caricature-like versions of the manga characters* themselves (*they're also cute).
They're often used to portray funny moments or asides.
'Bits' because these are to be fun little vignettes." An arrow points away from that last part, with an aside inscribed in another fluffy cloud that reads: "may or may not be inspired by AE (that is, me)'s own experience."

Abby's pointing happily up (and wearing a "no AI" sweater), while she says "You can expect to have them with every future newsletter...but also see changes in drawing styles, as my artist (aka me, AE) is still figuring this out (and does everything herself).

A first box reads: "Speaking of AE, she'd like for me to let you know you can also find her in these various clouds"
Cloud 1: Bluesky for quotes & pics
Cloud 2: Instagram 1 for pics, book recs, tidbits AE finds interesting
Cloud 3: Instagram 2, which is for all pics, illustrations, and updates of Pax (with a really cute head of Pax poking out here, my lovely French bulldog and hero of his own (misadventures)
Cloud 4: email (for direct answers), and
Cloud 5: Blog for notes on writing, art, publishing, research, and long-winded updates.
A smiling/winking Abby then adds (with a little heart, mind you): "Thank you for your support and see you next time!"
